The Charlottesville Pavilion has announced that rock band Modest Mouse will scurry onto the venue’s stage on June 29. Hailing from the depths of Issaquah, Washington, the group is not without local ties. Tom Peloso, a founding member of our own bluegrass heroes the Hackensaw Boys, joined the band following the Hackensaws’ stint with Modest Mouse on the Unlimited Sunshine tour in 2002 and played on the band’s last two albums, Good News for People Who Love Bad News and We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank.
And, if that’s not enough, Modest Mouse also added former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr to their line-up in 2006 and will be bring along New Orleans’ Dirty Dozen Brass Band, who helped out on two tracks from Good News, as the opening act.
