Delegate David J. Toscano will conduct a telephone town hall on Thursday, February 23, in order to speak with constituents about the proposed 2012-2014 budget and changes made by the House of Delegates.
"The most important action we take each session is to pass our biennial budget," Toscano said in a press release, adding that Governor McDonnell’s proposed budget diverts money from public safety, health care, and education and funnels it into transportation road maintenence.
Localities like Charlottesville and Albemarle, Toscano said, "will be faced with a dilemma–either cut services to adequately fund education, raise local taxes, or both."
Michael Cassidy, President and CEO of the Commonwealth Institute, will join Toscano to discuss how the proposed budget will affect government functions and core services.
Ten thousand registered voters in the 57th district will receive an automated phone call to invite them to join the telephone town hall. They will be instructed how to join the call and given further information on how to ask questions.
The telephone conference will be held at 7:00 p.m.
Individuals may register their number for the town hall here.
