There’s been a lot of talk about the scene in Christopher Nolan’s new flick, Inception, where a city block folds in on itself. That’s nothing, say students with the StoryLine Project, who bested Nolan by mashing the entire city of Charlottesville onto a granite slab on the Downtown Mall.
Panel 1. More below.
"For two weeks, students in the city’s Parks and Recreation summer camps studied their neighborhoods, and how they have changed," writes Josh Wheeler, of the Thomas Jefferson Center for Free Expression, which is collaborating with the BridgePAI and Piedmont Council of the Arts on the project. The end result of this phase is a 42′ chalk mural on the Free Speech wall that shows how the students view Charlottesville.
A storytelling event will run this afternoon from 4-7pm, which will be followed up by a gallery opening at Charlottesville Community Design Center on August 6.
Panel 2.
