Happy Tuesday! Here’s a couple quick notes on the arts:
Coran Capshaw, the largely benevolent overlord of Charlottesville, is among the organizers of a benefit for the flooding in Central Tennessee that will feature country heavyweights like Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, Carrie Underwood and Taylor Swift, Billboard reports. (The disaster even put the kibbosh on a couple of shows here last week, including Dierks Bentley’s planned gig at the Jefferson Theater.) Principal organizers for the June 22 event included Capshaw, McGraw and Hill. Not to be confused with McGraw-Hill—a textbook error. (Anyone? Anyone? No?)
On a more local note, we were lead to believe that the LOOK3 Festival of the Photograph would take a year off. And then in our recent C-VILLE fame issue, Nick Nichols hinted that there would be a special event called LOOKbetween. Now the cat’s out of the bag: The fest’s managing director Andrew Owen announced details last week about "an experimental two night event to present the work of 90 innovative photographers on a farm 30 minutes west of Charlottesville," called LOOKbetween. Tickets for both nights—June 11 and 12—including dinner, are 50 smackers and are limited. Get ’em here. Sounds pretty special.
