At roughly 11am, a group of horns, drums, tambourines, voices and hands started up "St. James Infirmary" at the east end of the Downtown Mall, then started moving west, switching to "When the Saints Go Marching In" halfway down the Mall. The processional—a memorial gesture for drummer Johnny Gilmore, who died on October 22—came to a halt at the west end of the Mall.
