C-VILLE Minute: Your weekend preview…without video!

Dear weekly viewers,

The C-VILLE Weekly digital camera recently began to behave in strange ways. I can only assume that the machine revolution is imminent. Laptops turning against their users! Mice running wild in the street! Cameras recording…their vengeance! Fittingly, here is the trailer for David Cronenberg’s Videodrome, which I feel is a realistic dramatization of our fate*:

*Not in the least bit true.

For those of you who plan to brave the computer coup, here’s what I’d recommend for this weekend. The Astronomers’ Friday night CD release gig with the Naked Puritans looks like a good’n, as does Bent Theatre’s free show at Milano. On Saturday, Harper Simon puts diamonds on the souls of his tunes at The Southern with Ted Pitney, and Jesse Winchester visits the Rockfish Valley Community Center for a benefit gig. And on Sunday, well, why don’t you pay me a visit at the Virginia Film Festival, huh?

Check back next week, at which point our lives will surely resemble this**:

**Not gonna happen.
