Nukes and botanicals: Green Reads

And welcome back to another edition of Green Reads! Earthy stories from around the Web, collected in one energy-efficient location.

From Fast Company, an update on that mag’s previous story about our local green guru, William McDonough. Now he’s certifying not just products, but ingredients. Fast Company obviously isn’t impressed.

On the blog of Da Mayor (Dave Norris), a thought-provoking discussion of greenspace in the city. Read the comments, too, and see if you don’t get all excited about a botanical garden like I did.

From the DP, a glimpse of the gubernatorial campaign to come. Looks like green jobs and clean energy will be a focus. I like some of Moran’s ideas, but I’m not happy with the way he and McAuliffe both get in line for more nuclear power.

From the Times, a discussion of the changing fortunes of ethanol. Very relevant for all those who tout or doubt ethanol as a savior for our fossil-fuel-addicted society.

And on wtop.com, a partial update on the Northern Virginia power line situation, with one very surprising tidbit: Demand for electricity has dropped. How about that? (A bit more info on the power line is here, and here.)
