Paula Coyner

Best of times: “Working with Mr. [James] Pierce, the principal. His support has been so critical to the Reading First program’s success.”

Worst of times: “I was loading kids on the bus one afternoon when I watched someone hit my car and drive away without leaving their information. I didn’t have a pen and I couldn’t leave the children, so it was pretty unfortunate for me.”

Strangest moments on the job: “We were screening students for our 3-year-old program when a little boy ran across the room to his mother, but in the process, his underwear fell out of his pants. It seems he had never put them on—he had just tucked them into his pants, so when they did fall out, he didn’t even notice.”

If she were a superhero, she’d be: “Wonder Woman. I would clone myself so I could be in six different places at the same time so I could meet everybody’s needs and make an even bigger impact.”
