UVA President Teresa Sullivan was hired under a 5-year contract—which, according to cvillenews.com, says that she will only receive a severance of one year’s salary if she is “terminated without cause,” but will get nothing from the University if she resigns.
“If Ms. Sullivan voluntarily resigns from the Presidency,” says her contract, “she shall not be entitled to further compensation or benefits as President, except as set forth in the University’s various benefit plans with respect to vesting and rights after termination of such employment.”
According to UVA spokeswoman Marian Anderfuren, details of the severance package are not yet available; Sullivan and the rector will negotiate a modified employment agreement.
