Part of a simultaneous effort nationwide in a dozen other cities, a group of locals staged a sit-in in Congressman Virgil Goode’s office on February 21. Three were arrested: Jeff Winder, Shelly Stern and Sue Frankel-Streit. They had written Goode a letter asking him to pledge to vote against additional war spending. According to police, the protesters said that they would continue their efforts every Wednesday. Police charged all three with trespassing and released them after they posted bond.
