Virginia Men’s Hoops Beats Another Team I’ve Never Seen Before 72-53

Virginia (8-4) looked very sloppy in a boring game against an opponent that didn’t belong on the same court as the Hoos.

The University of Texas-Pan American (1-15) came to town Tuesday night with not a bit of fanfare. UTPA had lost to Texas by 62 points to Texas, and by 56 at Missouri earlier this season. The Hoos did win 72-53, but were only up 12 with 2:25 to go in the lackluster contest. No one would blame you, Mr. Virginia fan, if you stayed home and watched Georgia Tech lose to Iowa in the frigid Orange Bowl, or if you sat in front of the fire and treated yourself to three straight episodes of The Office on TBS (as I did).

Virginia was led, per usual, by Sylven Landesberg, who had 20 points and six boards. The Hoos also got a season-high 22 points and 7 rebounds from front-court stud Mike Scott. Virginia opens up the ACC season at NC State on January 9th at Noon. Go Hoos! Let’s try and not have any more ridiculous opponents in the JPJ, OK Jon Oliver?
