UVA’s Miller Center launched its Presidential Classroom today in honor of Presidents Day. The online resource is meant to teach students about the US presidency and government.
The Presidential Classroom organization began in 1969 to foster nonpartisan civic education through Washington-based programs. It became affiliated with the Miller Center in November and the two organizations combined resources to create the new online Presidential Classroom resource.
The site will enhance learning by utilizing the Miller Center’s unique materials, including expert essays on presidents and officials, a comprehensive presidential speech archive, lesson plans, and transcripts of secret White House recordings.
"History will come alive for those who log onto the site," Governor Gerard L. Baliles, director and CEO of the Miller Center, said in a press release.
New exhibits will be added regularly.
