To all those impatiently awaiting the opening of a Trader Joe’s in Charlottesville, don’t hold your breath.
According to the Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control, the grocery store has withdrawn its ABC license (which it applied for in May, 2009) in July.
Currently, there are no active nor pending licenses for Trader Joe’s in the Charlottesville area. Store spokesperson Alison Mochizuki had no comment on whether Charlottesville is officially off the map for the popular grocery store.
The 2009 license listed the address as 1080 Seminole Trail, on the land between Hydraulic Road and Greenbrier Drive, a.k.a Albemarle Place.
