Cindy Sheehan, one of the most visible crusaders against the Iraq War, preached peace on Wednesday, May 17, at the Martin Luther King Jr. Performing Arts Center. Sheehan, whose son Casey was killed in Iraq two years ago, reflected on the experience of losing a child, and on her experiences traveling the country as an anti-war activist, including her widely publicized camp-out in front of President Bush’s Crawford, Texas, ranch last summer. Ann Wright, a veteran State Department official who resigned in 2003 to protest the war also spoke, wearing a t-shirt that honored the 2,445 soldiers who have now died in the conflict.
