In "What a difference a day makes" [October 23, 2007], it is suggested that taxes would go up under the supervisor challengers Mallek and Joseph, vs. the pro-growth incumbents Wyant and Boyd. This doesn’t square with my experience. I have lived in several different communities, both stable and high-growth areas, and in two different states. I can say that when growth is low, taxes are stable; and when growth is high, taxes rise quickly—no exceptions. And the largest tax increase I have ever had (I’m 51 years old) has been during the last three years in Albemarle County. So, that’s one myth in an otherwise good and useful article, and one reason to vote for the challengers.
