Former Virginia guard Sylven Landesberg was not selected in the NBA Draft this week. I’m certainly no NBA expert, but I sure as hell could have told you that he would not be chosen.
Landesberg, who is most remembered by UVA fans as winning the ACC Rookie of The Year in his first-year campaign, and also for not attending an art class one time his second-year here in Charlottesville, is what many pro-scouts call a tweener. A guy that does not have a clear position in the NBA. He does not shoot well enough to be a two-guard, does not handle the ball well enough to be a point-guard, and is not physical enough to play the three spot or four spot forward position. He does create his own shot well by driving to the hole, but you cannot make a living doing that as the 11th guy on some bench somewhere.
Oh man Sylven, if you had only made an attempt to earn your degree in your very brief time here, well then this time next year you just might be looking at million dollar condos. Not so much this year.
Landesberg has been invited to join Sacramento’s summer league roster. Wow, Sylven, Sacramento? Really? Welcome to what NBA players call the "cow town" of the league.
If I was Sylven, I’d go play in Europe, or even Israel. Sacramento, dear God…
