Nathan Antonio Washington, the man arrested for two sexual assaults linked to the serial rapist, has been tied to another sexual attack. A DNA sample obtained from Washington matched DNA evidence found at the scene of the sexual assault that occurred in a Waynesboro motel in 1997, according to The Daily Progress. That assault was eventually linked to six later sexual assaults in the Charlottesville area.

At a press conference after Washington’s August 13 arrest, city and county police said that Washington was a suspect in the five other unsolved sexual attacks linked to the serial rapist. The Waynesboro attack is the first of the five unsolved attacks to which Washington’s DNA has been linked, though he has yet to be charged for the motel assault.
A trial has been set for Washington in Albemarle County Circuit Court for December 10 at 10:30am. Washington has been charged in Albemarle with attempted rape, breaking and entering and attempted sodomy stemming from a 2004 sexual attack on Webland Drive. The City of Charlottesville hasn’t yet set a court date for Washington, where he faces six charges, including forcible rape and forcible sodomy, stemming from a 2002 sexual attack in the Willoughby subdivision.
