Patricia Kluge to unload fine and decorative arts from Albemarle House in June

The downsizing continues apace for Patricia Kluge, whose 45,000 square-foot Albemarle House property went on the market in October for $100 million. Artdaily reports today that hundreds of fine furnishing and decorative art objects from the home of the eponymous owner of Kluge Estate Winery and Vineyard will be auctioned from the mansion itself on June 8 and 9. Sotheby’s puts the value of the goods above $13.5 million.

In October, Kluge asserted she would retain her winery operations even as she seeks to sell the property that adjoins it. The plan is to build something smaller on another portion of her current estate. The Artdaily report reiterates that intention.

Kluge Estate Winery and Vineyard has more than 220 acres under vine, but for all its volume, the business has so far been slow to meet her expectations for national prominence, perhaps hindered by personnel issues that seem to beset several of her enterprises.

So many ways to enjoy Patricia Kluge’s influence: Buy a piece of furniture or buy the whole enchilada for $100 million.
