Obama packs Pavilion

Campaign volunteers got to work on the Free Speech wall before the fundraiser. The crowd included both young and old, passionate backers and folks looking to be convinced that Obama is the right person for the job.

After his speech, Obama embraced Virginia governor Tim Kaine, who is campaigning with the Illinois senator now that the Virginia election season is over. Kaine introduced Obama, saying that he "by nature and character brings folks together."

Obama spoke for nearly an hour, backed by volunteers on the stage riser. "You are sick of George W. Bush," he said, as the crowd before him roared. "Let’s admit it. You are tired of the lack of progress."

Presidential hopeful Barack Obama rallied supporters on October 29 at a Pavilion fundraiser that came just weeks after his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton appeared at The Paramount Theater. Standing in the cold, the crowd heard Obama rip into President George W. Bush, the war in Iraq and his opponents’ claims that he lacked the experience to be the next president. Obama promised to raise the minimum wage every year and to restore the country’s standing in the world. "You don’t just want to be against something," he shouted from the stage. "You want to be for something."
