No Bond for alleged baby killer

Robert Wayne Wyant, the Scottsville man accused of second-degree murder in the death of 8-month-old Alexis McFadyen, was denied bond in Albemarle Circuit Court February 20.

County prosecutors argued that Wyant’s behavior during the two-month investigation has been erratic and that he is a flight risk. Wyant has also had four charges for failing to appear in court in Albemarle County, Albemarle Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Darby G. Lowe pointed out at the hearing.

Robert Wayne Wyant was denied bond by an Albemarle Circuit Court judge as he’s considered a flight risk. Wyant is charged with murdering an 8-month-old he was babysitting.

Also, more details came out about Wyant’s relationship to the infant. He dated the baby’s mother, although he is not the father. Wyant was babysitting McFadyen when she died as a result of injuries consistent with Shaken Baby Syndrome. Prosecutors would not comment further on the circumstances of the infant’s death.

A trial is scheduled for April 2. Wyant is being held at the Albemarle Charlottesville Regional Jail.
