On September 19, 1989, C-VILLE was born. It was known as C’Ville Review then and it was, like its youthful owners, mightly slim and irreverent.
With this week’s issue, we mark 20 uninterrupted years. Somewhat daunted by the task of combing through every word and image to sum up what it means to have become Charlottesville’s longest-running news and arts weekly in that time, we offer this week what you might call a sampling from our menu: hits, misses and awkward memories from the owner.
Happy Anniversary, C-VILLE. And congratulations, readers. This achievement is as much yours as it is ours.
To help celebrate the occasion, we filmed a few locals who have been part of our 20-year history who wanted to wish us a happy birthday. Watch the video below, and if you feel moved to do the same, leave us a comment!
