Monticello High moves forward with turf field

At least one Albemarle County high school is ready to roll out artificial turf on its football field this fall. Monticello High has locked down the $600,000 necessary, thanks to a donor who paid the balance last week, reports NBC-29.

The county’s other high schools are still short. In February, a major donor had to “postpone” a $225,000 contribution to Albemarle High because of the economic downturn.

Charlottesville schools still haven’t decided whether to move forward with artificial turf, given the lingering questions over health risks, which C-VILLE explored in a cover feature in January.
