Men’s tennis topples UNC for ACC championship

The UVA men’s tennis team, ranked No. 2 in the nation, defeated No. 6-ranked North Carolina to win the ACC tournament on Sunday in Cary, North Carolina. It was UVA’s third tournament win in four seasons, and it was a blowout—the Cavs trounced the Tar Heels 5-0. The Cavs went undefeated in ACC regular season play, the first team to do so since the conference expanded to 12 teams. Much of the team’s success is thanks to the stellar serves and swings of leading player, junior Somdev Devvarman. Last week, Devvarman, who is ranked No. 2 nationally in singles, won All-ACC kudos for the third time. His overall record this year is an impressive 31-5. Next up for the ‘Hoos is the NCAA tournament to which the team gets an automatic bid.
