And we have a date! The grand opening for the new Martha Jefferson Hospital (MJH) has been set for Sunday, August 28, 2011. The new hospital, located at Peter Jefferson Place on Pantops, will receive its Certificate of Occupancy a few months prior to the move—June 1, 2011—at which time employees will begin training at the new facility. (Note: Martha Jefferson Hospital is the sixth largest landowner in the area.)
Just as the new hospital nears completion, as of the beginning of this month, the current location of MJH’s 14-acre Downtown campus is still without a contract for development. In 2009, MJH entered in an exclusive negotiations with Charlotte, North Carolina-based Crosland LLC, but the deadline for a signed contract has passed.
