Kaine will stick it out as governor

ABC News’ Jay Shaylor reports that Virginia Governor Tim Kaine won’t leave his post in the Commonwealth for a position in the Obama administration.

"I took an oath to be here for my whole term," Kaine told reporters on November 12. "I’ve actually communicated that to the president-elect already."

ABC News reports that Kaine and Obama had a phone conversation over the past weekend, where the governor of the Commonwealth reiterated his desire to remain in Richmond until the end of his term.

Kaine has been closely affiliated to Obama since the beginning of the elections, serving as national co-chair for Obama’s campaign, and being the first governor to endose Obama in the Democratic primaries.

"The governor is looking forward to working with the Obama administration, as governor of Virginia," said Delacey Skinner, Kaine’s communications director.

One thing he probably isn’t looking forward to is dealing with the budget this year. Not only will he once again go head-to-head with House Republicans during the General Assembly session, he will also be doing so with drasticly reduced revenues.
