One look at Republican state delegate Rob Bell‘s coffers, and you might think Bell was a candidate for the Green Party. (We kid!) According to the Virginia Public Access Project (VPAP), which recently posted first quarter fundraising totals for state government candidates, Bell’s campaign committee disclosed $173,359 in cash on-hand—a war chest that should make it difficult for any challenger to unseat the five-term incumbent.
Bell ranks second for cash on-hand, behind only Stafford County Republican William Howell. Democratic incumbent David Toscano reported more than $70,000 in his coffers, while Senator Creigh Deeds, a fellow Democrat, reported $77,000.
Locally, Republican Albemarle County Supervisor Ken Boyd reported more than $11,000 in cash, while Democrat Ann Mallek reported more than $3,000. Both supervisors are up for reelection in November. Fellow supervisor and Scottsville Democrat Lindsay Dorrier recently announced that he would not seek reelection.
