Hydraulic headache two weeks overdue

As if traveling the 29N corridor wasn’t bad enough. For the last several weeks, commuters have had to cope with lane closures on Hydraulic Road because of the installation of utility lines for a new Whole Foods.

“This project is about two weeks overdue,” says Ric Barrick, city spokesperson. “It started late, and it’s ending late.” Barrick expected the work to be finished by October 17.

For the last several weeks, drivers faced a traffic headache on Hydraulic Road.

The start date for the project was delayed due to the late arrival of electric signs needed to close the road. The delays continued as crews had limited access to the site due to the volume of traffic passing through.

Since the work is being done for the Whole Foods, shouldn’t the developer pony up a little for it? “We try not to place blame in these situations,” says Barrick. “We try to acknowledge that we are out there in a coordinated effort.”
