Huguely sentencing date set

George Huguely’s defense team appeared before Judge Edward Hogshire in Charlottesville Circuit Court Monday morning to decide on a sentencing date for Huguely, now set for 1 p.m. Thursday, August 30.

In February, Huguely was found guilty of the murder of his former girlfriend, Yeardley Love, shortly before the two were to graduate from UVA in 2010.

The defense team requested dates in July for motions to overturn the conviction, but Hogshire said he has not yet received such a motion, which was supposed to be filed shortly after the trial.

A hearing has also been set for Thursday, April 19 for motions from Charlottesville attorney Robert Yates, who is still fighting for more public and media access to the evidence.
