Hoos break streak as they pound Duke 16-10 in ACC Tourney opening game!

The Virginia Cavaliers lacrosse team had lost eight straight times to the pesky Duke Blue Devils. Well, now the streak stands at one. The Hoos won today 16-10 in the opening round of the ACC Tournament in College Park, Maryland. Duke had won three straight ACC Championships.

Virginia won the face-off battle 20/28, and were an incredible 18/19 on clearing opportunities. Shamel Bratton scored three times and had two assists on the afternoon. Chris Bocklet also had three goals for the Hoos. Virginia’s goalie Adam Ghitelman saved 12, and also scored an extremely rare goal of his own! Duke scored several goals late, as this game was not nearly as close as the score might suggest.

The Hoos will pay the winner of the Maryland/Carolina game on Sunday in College Park for the ACC Championship. The game is at 3:30 p.m Sunday and will be carried live on AM 1070 with John Freeman calling the action. Go Hoos!
