Former UVIMCO CEO Brightman hired by CA-based Research Affiliates

Chris Brightman, the former CEO of the entity that manages UVA’s endowment, the University of Virginia Investment Management Company (UVIMCO), and who resigned in March amidst allegations of adultery with a subordinate during a "work event," will begin work on May 1 as a strategist for Research Affiliates, LLC. Research Affiliates—based in Newport Beach, California—manages a reported $50 billion in assets as of March 31. While at UVIMCO, Brightman oversaw assets that peaked at roughly $5.1 billion; as of a January 2010 investment report, UVA’s asset pool is valued at roughly $4.4 billion.

According to BusinessWire.com, Research Affiliates chairman Rob Arnott says Brightman is "a talented and experienced investment professional who brings to us a strong grasp of what we do, which is to focus on research and develop innovative products that are distributed through our affiliates."
