Chris Brightman, the former CEO of the entity that manages UVA’s endowment, the University of Virginia Investment Management Company (UVIMCO), and who resigned in March amidst allegations of adultery with a subordinate during a "work event," will begin work on May 1 as a strategist for Research Affiliates, LLC. Research Affiliates—based in Newport Beach, California—manages a reported $50 billion in assets as of March 31. While at UVIMCO, Brightman oversaw assets that peaked at roughly $5.1 billion; as of a January 2010 investment report, UVA’s asset pool is valued at roughly $4.4 billion.
