Election Day: UPDATE 9am voter turnout in county at 11.9 percent

There were no lines at Tonsler Precinct this morning. At 8am, a man passed out a card to remind voters to write in City Council candidate Andrew Williams.  Five cars were parked in the lot.

Democratic Council candidate Kristin Szakos stood at the entrance of the precinct thanking all those who turned out to vote. Councilor Holly Edward sat behind the Democratic table.

A “Bob Fenwick for City Council” sign stood next to the Republican table on the opposite side of the parking lor.

By 9:15am, 203 voters cast ballots at Carver Recreation Center, a moderate turnout at that point.

UPDATE: City Registrar confirms Charlottesville voter turnout at 9am was 7.53 percent.

UPDATE: County Spokesperson Lee Catlin confirms that at 9am, 7,988 people voted in Albemarle County: 11.9 percent of the registered voters.
