Deeds leads in urban areas, McDonnell leads in Deeds’

Stopping in at C-VILLE on Friday, the Democratic gubernatorial candidate called himself a “finisher.” According to the Washington Post, Creigh Deeds’ closing in on Republican challenger Bob McDonnell is in part due to a surge of support from independent women voters.

Sunday’s article chronicles the rise in Deeds’ supporters as a result of the publication of McDonnell’s conservative law school thesis.Deeds has come from a 15-point deficit to only four.

Yet, McDonnell has “far more enthusiastic supporters than Deeds.”

There has been an interesting breakdown of likely voters throughout the state: In Northern Virginia, Deeds leads 57 to 40 percent and in the Washington suburbs, Deeds leads 63 to 34 percent.

In rural areas, what was once called "Deeds’ Country," McDonnell leads with more than 60 percent. McDonnell leads 55 to 44 percent outside Northern Virginia.
