Daylight Savings Time returns…with a vengeance

For some, Daylight Savings Time translates to "Sleep-Losing Time." For others, it means sunnier afternoons and evenings. For every one of us, it means the potential to miss a Sunday engagement of one kind or another. So remember, people: Turn those clocks ahead an hour before you hit the hay on Saturday night.

Now, onto the good stuff.

  • A UVA Today article from 2007 details how electric clocks on Grounds are changed through a smaller number of "master clocks," while the Rotunda clock must be changed by hand. On a related note, what a cruel twist of fate that UVA students will lose an hour of sleep at the end of spring break. Harsh!
  • Daylights Savings Time tampers a bit with circadian rhythms. This article from ScienceDaily.com features comments from UVA biology professor Carla Green gets into how DST might affect your metabolism.
  • Lastly, Sunday is also Pi Day. Plan accordingly.
