Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli just earned a bigger stage for his investigation of former UVA climate scientist Michael Mann. Months after Albemarle Circuit Court Judge Paul Peatross ruled that Cuccinelli’s investigation of Mann under the Fraud Against Taxpayers Act failed to make fraud allegations clear, news broke today that the state Supreme Court will hear an appeal by Cuccinelli.
Earlier this year, Richmond Democratic Senator Don McEachin proposed a bill to repeal the Office of the Attorney General’s right to launch civil investigative demands. That bill was incorporated into another that sought to bar the AG from investigating academic matters at public universities, and was ultimately left in committee.
