Satyendra Huja, director of planning and community development for more than two decades and a planner behind both the Downtown Mall and the Rivanna Trail, will hold a press conference on Friday in front of City Hall. Huja, one of three City Councilors elected in 2007, will likely announce his decision to either run for reelection or step down from council. The press conference is scheduled for 11am.
Holly Edwards and David Brown, elected alongside Huja in 2007, have both stated that they will not seek reelection. Brown, first elected in 2004, served two terms and was mayor prior to Dave Norris. Edwards, who declined to serve as mayor last year, is currently vice mayor.
