The goats are coming! Last night, City Council unanimously passed an ordinance that would allow city residents to have miniature goats. There are exceptions, however.
No more than three miniature goats are allowed on the same property. Goats must weigh less than 100 pounds and be dehorned, and males must be neutered.
Meghan Keith-Hynes, the founder of The Charlottesville Goat Justice League, commented on the group’s blog that an “Urban Goat-Keeping Seminar is in the works.”
“It’s now in our hands to make this program a resounding success and make sure our little beasts are good neighbors,” she writes.
