The Charlottesville City School System is closer to finding a new CHS principal after last nights’s meeting with parents, teachers, staff and students at the Martin Luther King Jr. Performing Arts Center. Originally scheduled for three candidates, only two were in attendance according to agreed upon pool reporter David Foky of NBC29 (other media were not allowed inside). Narrowed from a list of more than 20 gathered in a national search, the two men—one is currently an assistant principal, the other a former principal coming out of retirement—gave opening statements and then submitted to written questions from the roughly 60 people in attendance. The audience was also asked to fill out a sheet with their thoughts and impressions after the forum that will be reviewed by the superintendent. The decision as to which candidate, if either, gets the job could come as early as this week.
