A man who was acquitted of child sex charges in Madison has been brought up on related charges in Albemarle County. Oscar Robert Lemen faces 18 indictments on various charges, including forcible sodomy, penetration with an inanimate object, aggravated sexual battery and attempted rape.
All these crimes allegedly occurred with one female victim between November 2004 and June 2005. The girl was reportedly 13 when the abuse began. Lemen is accused of abusing the girl over a seven-month period at a residence on Free Union Road in Albemarle. Lemen knew the girl through family members.
The case gathered attention in Madison because Lemen worked as a mechanic for the school system, and was sometimes a substitute school bus driver. The Madison Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office would not comment on Lemen’s acquittal there.
Albemarle Police began investigating Lemen for events at the Albemarle home after he was picked up by Madison police late last year for the related charges.
The County indictments were handed down by a grand jury last month. Lemen had since moved to Rappahannock, but turned himself in to police Monday, November 6. His preliminary hearings are scheduled for December.
