Bike ridership was given a big push today when the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation (CACF), a permanent endowment dedicated to improving the quality of life in the city, gave $8,000 to the Virginia Organizing Project to support the Community Accessibility Bicycle initiative to increase the quality and quantity of bicycle riding in the city.
CACF’s grants, totalling $144,500 have been divided between local non-profits such
as:
– the Music Resource Center with $5,000 to help create a new music industry studies course in collaboration with Charlottesville Albemarle Technical Education Center;
– the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank that received $10,000 to provide nutritious meals to at-risk kids;
– the Service Dogs of Virginia received $5,000 to support specially trained dogs with an autistic child to provide safety.

The Virginia Organizing Project is one of many agencies in town pushing for an increase in bike ridership.
