When the Fifth District congressional race goes to a recount, it’s looking more and more likely that Tom Perriello will be the presumed congressman-elect. He starts the morning up 648 votes, a difference of 0.2 percent of the vote.
Fifth District Congressman Virgil Goode doesn’t appear close to conceding. He issued a statement a few minutes ago that suggests he will request a recount if the lead holds for his Democratic challenger, Tom Perriello.
Ten minutes before midnight on election day, November 4, Danville Registrar Peggy Petty got the only numbers she was missing from the City of Danville precincts. Overall, the office was in pretty good shape.
Both Tom Perriello and Virgil Goode, competitors for the Fifth District congressional seat who are, as of this minute, separated by 145 votes, said at press conferences this morning that they are confident that they will prevail.
