If you ask fans how they classify the music of Deerhoof, you’ll most likely be answered with shoulder shrugs and some sort of take on ”awesome.” The San Francisco group has built its reputation by refusing to be defined by labels or genres, running the gauntlet of every music form imaginable. It’s punk. It’s rock. It’s easy listening. The band makes these forms its own by tweaking conventions of rhythm and flow to find something fast-paced, abundant, and truly original.
Saturday 11/8. $15. The Southern Café and Music Hall, 103 S. First Street. 977-5590.
