Annette Bening cancels Virginia Film Fest appearance

According to a press release from the Virginia Film Festival, actress Annette Bening will be unable to attend this year’s event as was previously announced. Bening has an "unavoidable schedule conflict," according to the release. Her absence, however, will not affect festival programming; actress Cherry Jones, director Rodrigo Garcia and producer (and UVA alum) Julie Lynn will still preview their film, Mother and Child, and Alan Ball will still present a 10th anniversary screening of American Beauty—both events that Bening was to attend.

This announcement comes a few weeks after another Bening cancellation. According to the Los Angeles Times, a September 30 stage performance of Medea was cancelled so that Bening could handle a "family medical emergency." A source told the Times that the emergency concerned one of Bening’s children with husband Warren Beatty.
