It’s budget season again. Pam Moran, Albemarle County Schools Superintendent released a $144.9 million proposed budget for the 2011-2012 year.
According to a news release, this request is a $2.1 million, or 1.47 percent over the current adopted budget and directly reflects enrollment growth.
About 359 new students are projected to enroll in the next school year, and Moran is proposing adding 27 new teachers and other student services staff to accommodate the growth.
The budget also reflect requests made by the School Board that include a 1 percent salary increase for classified staff and 1.95 percent increase for teachers as well as the reinstatement of teaching positions that were cut in the current fiscal year.
