Albemarle Police issued summonses for underage drinking

Press Release:  On Friday, November 4, 2011 at approximately 11:30 P.M. officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of Earlysville Forest Drive for a complaint of an underage party. Officers observed a group of individuals that appeared to be under the legal drinking age as well as an assortment of alcohol.

Officers made contact with these individuals and later determined that none of them were over the age of seventeen. Officers issued fourteen summonses to juveniles that were between the ages of 15-17.

The Albemarle County Police Department has made 172 arrests so far this year for underage possession of alcohol. The police department will continue to work with the community, the juvenile justice system and the school system to dissuade the use of alcohol by those under the legal drinking age.
