Baron uses her experience as a freelance writer and former Sephora employee to address the modern woman’s need for better beauty products. As she very rightly says, “gone are the days of slapping beeswax on your face and calling it moisturizer.”
Some of the undesirable ingredients she lists are merely irritants that are best avoided. But some have actual detrimental medical effects, such as paraben preservatives that mimic estrogen and have caused reproductive changes in rats. (Just what you want to wash your face with!)
The blog delivers info on the many make-up lines more environmentally friendly than your average drugstore potions. It aims to be comprehensive: Every product gets a brief review plus prices and links (many lines which are available locally at Whole Foods and other natural-food stores), and Baron sizes up both the “eco-factor” and “pretty-factor” for every mask, eyeliner and blush she samples. She speaks to all of us who do want to save the planet, but just can’t quite face leaving the house without our mascara.
