Democrats roll along

The victory by Ann Mallek who handily beat Republican David Wyant for a seat on the Board of Supervisors, is but one of the significant Democratic shifts across the state. Democrats picked up four seats to regain control of the State Senate for the first time since 1995. In Charlottesville, it was no surprise (particularly given that no Republicans ran) that Democrats retained their stranglehold on City Council. And Mallek’s victory gives a Democratic lean to the county Board, part of what’s being seen as a blue trend in Virginia.
