Founded in 1957, Richmond Ballet became the first professional ballet company in the commonwealth in 1984. Designated as the State Ballet of Virginia in 1990, the premier touring dance organization carries a mission to awaken and uplift the human spirit through the promotion, preservation, and sustained evolution of its art form. This performance features a recital of classic and original works drawn from an expansive repertory that includes 19th- and 20th-century masterpieces and more than 80 new ballets by contemporary choreographers.
