I am slightly confused by Mr. Fitzgerald’s review of the She Wants Revenge concert at the Satellite Ballroom last friday [Reviews, November 14]. I was also present and though he says, “The enthusiasm seeped out of the evening, and the crowd trickled to the back, reopening the chasm in the middle of the ballroom,” I completely disagree. The band even stopped playing to mention how nice it was to see everyone dancing, as you can never know when you play a college town how people are going to react. There was no hole in the middle of the ballroom. And by the end of the set there were no people at the bar either. There was even a rousing chorus of “Tear You Apart” in which the audience all sang along.
What concert was he attending? As for the middle act, Pretty Girls Make Graves, they were good, but their sound was out of balance and most people actually spent that time filling their drinks at the bar, not in rapt attention to the band.
Mr. Fitzgerald may not have liked the headlining band, but his review didn’t even do the night the most basic of justice.
