In an e-mail that criticized Charlottesville City Council for waiving permit fees for Occupy Charlottesville’s presence in Lee Park, the Jefferson Area Tea Party also offered voters its hypothetical vision of a "liberal majority" on the Albemarle Board of Supervisors.
"The activists of Occupy Charlottesville are entitled to their right of free speech—but that right does not include suspension of ordinances and public safety measures to enable their specific style of demonstration," states a JATP e-mail. "In our opinion, City Council’s actions exemplify political favoritism and irresponsible governance."
The Tea Party letter expresses hope that Albemarle voters "will take a close look at City Council and ask if they want a similar kind of government in Albemarle County. What would the likely outcome be if a group calling itself ‘Occupy Albemarle’ were to petition a Liberal majority Board of Supervisors comprised of Cynthia Neff, Christopher Dumler, Dennis Rooker, and Ann Mallek?"
C-VILLE is now on site at the Charlottesville and Albemarle Democratic party at Vivace, where we hear that state delegate David Toscano is en route. Stay tuned for more updated.
