Wahoos Score Only 41 Points in Home Loss to Duke

It never really got ugly, but the Duke Blue Devils (24-2, 11-1) came to town and finished off the Wahoos 56-41 in another college basketball game that set the game back a ways…Yikes, 41 points at home.

Duke’s Nolan Smith scored 22 points as Duke won their fifth straight game. Sophomore Ryan Kelly scored 11 and grabbed 5 rebounds.

The Wahoos (12-13, 3-8) kept things close for the most of the first half with Duke superstar Kyle Singler struggling to be meaningful, but the Hoos never put together a full fledged comeback in the second half. Singler was credited with five turnovers, and he scored only two points.

Virginia only had one player score in double figures (Mustapha Farrakhan, 11 points), and the Hoos struggled to shoot the basketball. The Hoos shot less than 30% for the game from the field.

Tony Bennett’s crew returns to the friendly confines of the JPJ Saturday as the dreaded Hokies from Blacksburg return to Charlottesville for a key match-up in their quest to get back to the NCAA Tournament. Go Hoos!
